As time goes on you will see with all my lists I don’t design them for the all-out kill. I build the lists with the intention that I will get 5 turns of each game if time allows. You can’t score points in turns 4 & 5 if you have been tabled already.

This will certainly be the most completive Tournament I have ever played in and I am not entering it with the mind-set that I am going to win it.  I play this game for fun and Nurgle armies allow me to do it, all be it at the cost of my opponent’s frustrations when things don’t die.

I’m not one to complain about the current top armies I like to come up with ideas and plays on how to beat them.

So my thoughts behind this list were simple.

1 – I need to be able to play and compete in the CA2019 Eternal War Missions with a 1750pt army

2 – Survive and Play the mission

3 – The current Space Marines (“The Good Guys”). I’m expecting a lot of these guys at the GT in one form or another.

So a bit more detail behind my choices.

What I am expecting to see is lots of Intercessors, war suits and repulsor executioner’s.

What do Intercessors bring to the table? S4 -1/-2AP guns

What do the war suits bring to the table? A close up immediate threat

What does the repulsor executioner bring to the table? A big -1 million AP gun with loads of damage

I appreciate that they are very simple terms and not the whole story but you get the idea.

So what do I need to survive until turn 5 against that lot? Nurgle is all we need 5+ invol save which negates 1/3 of their shots that wound and Disgustingly Resilient which negates another 1/3 of any damage.

This is why everything in the list has an invol save and a DR roll apart from the Nurglings against multi damage weapons. But to be honest if they are wasting their big guns on the Nurglings I’m happy. I have also tried to pick units based on points per wound. I have a lot of wounds in my list for the 1750 points

A Nurgle beast is 6pts per wound. A Nurglings 4.5pts per wound. I toyed with plague bearers and Pox walkers. Pox walkers I didn’t have enough painted and with the point increase to plague bearers at T4 I decided against it.

I have tried to incorporate a lot of T5 and above into the army to counter act those pesky Bolters. You will be surprised how many shots a 30 point T5 Nurgle beast can take. Going into the Gt my record is 15 intercessors shooting it with re-rolls. So 280 points of models to put it down. That’s a fair trade in my eyes.

I haven’t used the Plague drones before so a quick learning cure is required with them but again at 9 points for T5 wound and the board space they take up is great value.Battle reports in part 2/3.
